My Introduction – Welcome

Hi. My name is Nikki. I am 31 years old as of the date of writing this on 09/23/2017. I plan to introduce myself to you and welcome you to follow along in my weight loss journey.

I’ve always been a bigger person. I had a phase in my life when I was 15 years old, going on 16 when I was at my smallest, healthiest weight. I was also bulimic and sick with Hyperemesis with my first son. Hyperemesis, in short terms, is extreme morning sickness. I threw up roughly 15-25 times a day for nine months straight. So, it’s pretty obvious as to why I would have been my smallest.

Since then it’s been a rollercoaster ride of weight gain and loss.

When I was pregnant with my second child, I weight 260lbs. I promptly lost about 55lbs during the pregnancy and was down to 205lbs by the time I gave birth. I was at a healthy weight again but I had just gone nine months without eating anything and when I did eat/drink I just threw it up again. The weight was going to come back, no matter what I did because I was going to be able to eat once again.

Sure enough, I started being able to eat and lived off eating and drinking coffee and Mountain Dew. Over the course of the next eight years, I gained all the weight back and then some. It actually only took about a year to gain it back, I started dieting after that.

In 2012, I quit smoking. I also decided to start calorie counting. I ended up losing about 20lbs pretty quickly, bringing me down to 240lbs. I was proud to be back under 250. I halted at a complete stop after that, though. I couldn’t lose for the life of me.

I did everything right. I weighed and measured my food, I counted my calories RELIGIOUSLY for over 800 days, I included walking and exercise into my plan, but nothing budged. I went to the doctor and got bloodwork and the full panel and nothing came back positive. I talked to the dietitian and she said I was doing everything that I was supposed to be. I got really discouraged and gave up.

After a while, I yo-yo’d back and forth between counting calories, introducing, starting, and then promptly stopping exercise, and no matter what I tried the weight wouldn’t come off.

I got off the track and gave up for a while; I stopped calorie counting, exercising, watching what I ate, etc. I managed to give up to the point of my weight gain to 260lbs again. (According to the doctor’s scale it’s 277lbs but I don’t use that as a reference since I am not always using that scale.)

This is when it stops. I am going to do something about it. Weight loss is not going to be my end game. I am not going to give up hope on losing the weight. I am going to do some many things to get the weight off for good but there are going to be a lot of ups and downs (literally, get those reps in!) and hard work ahead of me. I want to document my journey through my weight loss process with you.

So, join me, welcome me into your encouragement. I welcome all of you to tell me your stories and what helped you.

Like I said, I have tried so many different things and after weeks of trying, I give up because I’m not seeing anything budges. This time HAS to be different.

Thanks for joining me in my journey. Any questions, feel free to ask.
